The Angry Pacifist — Robert Almada Books
From the Author
This is a fictional autobiography with my life as a backdrop. Adam Laboa, my alter ego, will guide you on this journey, doing all the things I wish I'd done and a few I'm glad I never did. He's super gifted physically and mentally, but also extremely insecure. Some stories are true, some are not. Think of this as a game of two lies and one truth. Throughout the book, Adam faces adversity and adventure, trials and tribulations, successes and failures, but in Chapters 6 through 14 he gets specific about how he has and is dealing with all of it.
My father's angry looks pulsed through me like violent slaps to my face, each leaving an emotional scar on my newly formed brain. What did I do to piss him off? It was the same look I saw on his face in the delivery room. It was that look, followed by a painful slap to my ass intended to kick start the process of breathing, that led to the thought, "Okay, lots of kinds of pain out here. How can I adjust? Finger to mouth seems to help." Hi, I'm Adam Laboa and I am "The Angry Pacifist" and that was the shit show I was born into. The Angry Pacifist is entertaining, occasionally informative, chock full of adventure, and even inspirational at times. In the end it challenges and encourages readers to consider non-traditional ideas when choosing your next adventure.
